Display and Camera Usage

This section introduces how to use the included display and camera functions on the Raspberry Pi, laying the foundation for subsequent project development.

Note: Please connect the relevant interfaces according to the tutorial links. Do not cross-wire the connections; otherwise, the configuration will not match the hardware wiring and the device cannot be driven properly.
Note: The DSI and CSI interfaces are disabled by default. You need to configure the config.txt file before use.

Configuration Notes

The CM5-HMI-xA-ACCE series is available in 7inch, 8inch, and 10.1inch screen versions, all equipped with a 5-megapixel front camera. Different screen sizes use different DSI device tree configurations, and the camera uses the OV5647 device tree configuration.

  • Edit the config.txt file

    sudo nano /boot/firmware/config.txt
  • 7inch screen version
    • The CM5-HMI-7A-ACCE is equipped with a 7-inch, 720 × 1280 resolution screen. The corresponding screen and camera configuration is as follows:
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d
    dtoverlay=ov5647
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel-v2,7_0_inch_a,dsi0
  • 8inch screen version
    • The CM5-HMI-8A-ACCE is equipped with a 8-inch, 800 × 1280 resolution screen. The corresponding screen and camera configuration is as follows:
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d
    dtoverlay=ov5647
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel-v2,8_0_inch_a,dsi0
  • 10.1inch screen version
    • The CM5-HMI-10.1A-ACCE is equipped with a 10.1-inch, 800 × 1280 resolution screen. The corresponding screen and camera configuration is as follows:
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d
    dtoverlay=ov5647
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-dsi-waveshare-panel-v2,10_1_inch_a,dsi0
  • After modification, reboot the Raspberry Pi to power on the DSI screen normally

    sudo reboot
  • For more custom screen usage, see the DSI Interface Usage Guide.
