FAQ

Serial Port and Downloading

Q: How do I check the COM port currently in use?

A: On Windows, open Device Manager and expand "Ports (COM & LPT)" to view the port number. On Linux, use ls /dev/ttyACM* /dev/ttyUSB* or dmesg in a terminal to view serial devices.

Q: What should I do if the computer cannot recognize the device or cannot download the program?

A:

  1. First check whether software such as Arduino IDE or VS Code is occupying the serial port. Close the relevant software and try again.
  2. Try entering download mode: disconnect USB, press and hold the BOOT button on the board while reconnecting USB, then release the BOOT button.
  3. It is recommended to connect the board directly to a computer USB port, avoiding the use of a USB hub.
  4. Try a different USB cable that supports data transfer or a different computer USB port.

For detailed operations, see Firmware Flashing and Erasing.

Q: Why is there no serial output after successfully flashing the code?

A: The ESP32-C5-Touch-LCD-3.5 uses the native USB function of the ESP32-C5. Check the USB CDC, serial output, and port configuration in the project, and confirm that the serial monitor has selected the correct port and baud rate.

Factory Firmware and Basic Usage

Q: Can the board be used without a TF card?

A: Yes, but functions that require saving files to a TF card, such as taking photos and recording audio, will be unavailable.

Q: What should I pay attention to when using a TF card?

A: Only FAT32-formatted TF cards are supported. Capacities of 64GB and below are recommended. Do not remove the card directly while reading or writing to avoid file corruption.

Display and Touch

Q: What are the LCD display driver and touch driver?

A: The LCD display driver chip for this product is ST7796, and the capacitive touch driver chip is FT6336. The LCD uses an SPI interface for communication, and the touch uses an I2C interface.

Q: Can I remove the screen myself?

A: The screen and backplate are bonded together. Do not disassemble or pry open the adhesive layer yourself, as this may damage the screen.
